Visitors
Visitors should feel welcome in any church which professes to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. Sadly, this is not always the case. Nevertheless, selecting a church is one of the most important decisions one can make. We understand such a decision can often be overwhelming. We desire to make your visit with us the best experience possible.
What do I wear?
During our Sunday gatherings our members wear a wide range of clothing styles. You’ll find everything from casual to business attire. Please wear what is comfortable for you. We want to get to know you and want to ensure you feel welcomed by the church.
What is a Calvary Baptist Church worship service like?
The members of our church participate in many different activities during the week; however, the following information will give visitors an idea of what takes place in our four main services.
Sunday School
We have one Sunday school in the morning, which begins at 9:30 AM. The adults meet in the sanctuary or main auditorium. Children have special lessons prepared in the back classroom, behind the fellowship hall. There is also a special class for the teen/ young adult ladies in the fellowship hall. Some parents choose to have their children attend the adult class. If you are visiting, you may choose to have your children attend the adult class as well.
Sunday Morning Worship
Following Sunday school, we also have our morning worship service at 10:30 AM. Our morning worship services are sincere and adhere to the Lord’s teachings concerning worship. We gather to enter into the worship of the Lord and we do so with the people of God. Each week a sermon is delivered from the biblical text. As a church, we sincerely desire to preach the law of God and the good news concerning his Son, Jesus the Christ. We do not dismiss the children during the morning worship service, but rather encourage their participation with the adults as we all worship the Lord together. We do have a nursery behind the fellowship hall where mothers may go with their children. There is a speaker in the room so mothers can hear the morning sermon while attending to their children.
Our congregation has a fellowship dinner on the first Sunday of the month, immediately following the morning worship service. Visitors are encouraged to attend. There is no need to bring a dish. We always have plenty of food to go around.
Sunday Evening Worship
We have a Sunday evening Bible study at 6:00 PM. Our Sunday evening worship services is less formal than our morning worship service. It is a wonderful time of singing, prayer, and a devotional message. Prior to the Bible study, the pastor spends approximately 10 minutes telling a biblical story to the children.
There is no Sunday evening service on the first Sunday of the month, when we have our fellowship dinner immediately after our morning worship service.
Wednesday Evening Prayer Meeting
We have a Wednesday evening prayer at 6:00 PM. Our Wednesday evening service is a time of singing, a devotional message, and corporate prayer. As a congregation, we pray for one another, our missionaries and particular requests. Besides the prayer, we also have a time for children to memorize scripture, conduct bible drills, and discuss the pastor’s devotional message.
